TOURISTS (2)

Michigan's Judges, Prosecutors, Politicians and law enforcement are just as bad if not worse than any third world country. Dickinson County Michigan holds the title of being the worst of the worst. Dickinson County is the first county a tourist would enter if coming from the Chicago area, it is 298 miles north of Chicago on highway 141. Iron Mountain is the first city in Michigan on 141 and is the Dickinson Co. seat. The courts squander huge amounts of taxpayers money on hatred and revenge. City and County officials, State and Local Police, Merchants, Judges, Prosecutors and Court personnel hate all tourists, (outsiders), and think nothing of depriving them of their rights and hassling them at every opportunity.

Example: Just recently a lady from Independence, Mo. was visiting the area with her 14 year old daughter. At 2:00 a.m. a police officer pulled her over for a burned out tail-light and ordered her to pay a $50.00 fine right on the spot because she had an out of state plate. The police wouldn't let her pay with a check and refused to stop at a ATM machine on the way to the jail. The lady and her 14 year old daughter were handcuffed, shoved into the police car, taken to jail, fingerprinted and locked up. This is just one of the many things that happen to tourists in Michigan.

The following articles have been written by others who have found out the hard way just what makes a state such a dangerous and life-threatening place to live. I am not printing any of the peoples names who have written these letters in fear that they will be arrested and jailed on false charges for speaking out. (conspired against by the local judges, landlords and business owners).

     (1) NOT SHOWING A GOOD EXAMPLE - What's going on with the police officers in this area? I once respected and trusted our officers and taught our children not to be afraid of them, but now it seems they are not to be trusted or respected. They are definitely not showing a good example for our young children. What about all the stuff that is going on that doesn't get printed in the paper?

     (2) As a military family, my husband and I moved to Iron Mountain with two small children this fall from Fort Lewis, Wash., (Seattle). The timing of our move prevented us from moving sooner this summer. In order to make sure that our children would start school with the other kids, we rented a house from the classified ads before we moved here. We saw some pictures over the Internet and mailed our deposit to our landlord. After arriving here, we were outraged at the property that we had rented. Unfortunately, we took for granted that every rental property should be safe. This was caused mainly by the fact we have lived in military housing for eight years and we assumed rentals in the local economy would be the same as far as compliance. Leaking ceilings, no smoke detectors on the second floor and in the basement, exposed electrical wires, mold, and other things. I would be absolutely embarrassed to rent someone a house in that condition. After contacting the city of Iron Mountain for an inspection and informing the landlord, I was astonished to find that the landlord made the statement that he is mad that he rented to a "family with good paying jobs." He stated that he would have rather rented to someone with no job because they do not cause him so many problems. Which brings me to believe that he would prefer to rent to someone who is less likely to pursue their rights or is not capable of doing the research to see if they are being treated fairly. I encourage everyone to read their rights and make sure they are living in a safe environment. I pose the question to all landlords fighting the ordinance, would you want your family living in such a property? To me, my two daughters didn't mean much to my landlord when he did not install smoke detectors on the second floor. My children are the most important thing in my life. If someone cannot reason with that, they should consider another investment besides gambling with children's lives. No child's life is worth less than two $5 smoke detectors. Unfortunately, we took for granted that every rental property should be safe.

     (3) ***My son,Joshua Sheppard and his girlfriend, Nadine and their friend, Ashley, rented a house on North Milwaukee in Iron Mountain. They were very happy when they called me, but said the house needed work. The landlord told them if they cleaned and painted, they wouldn't have to pay the $500 deposit. I went down to see the house. I could not believe it. Garbage all over inside and out. Rotting furniture and junk in front yard, side and back. This rental had no running water, no heat, bad wiring, no working toilet, and no working smoke detectors. The wiring was very shoddy. When the kids had the microwave on they could not make toast without blowing a fuse. This house should not have even been rented to dogs, let alone people. I told the kids that, but they were all excited and said the landlord was going to take care of everything. I told them not to pay any rent until it was done. The kids had to walk to Citgo to go to the bathroom and go somewhere else to take showers. We had to haul water for drinking and cleaning. They paid off the old water bill left by former tenants so water could be turned on, but the pipes were broke so there was still no water. The stove top worked but the oven did not. The floor was full of holes. Another man, another landlord, I guess, came one day and did not know the kids were renting. When he found out they lived there, he kind of fixed the heat. But the police report said Josh was only doing work there. I took Joshua over to Shelby's to shower one day and the girls called and said the landlord wanted the $500 and he had no lease or contract yet. These people knew they were in the wrong. The landlord said he'd fix things but never did. The kids cleaned, bleached and painted all out of their own pockets. The landlord said he would be there on such a date to fix things and never showed up. A friend of the kids who is an electrical worker went there one day and told them not to use certain plugs because they were not safe. They told the landlord, but they never got fixed. This needs to be prevented. There should be code enforcement for every rental. They should be registered and only if they are safe should they be able to be rented. If they do not bring houses up to code they should be condemned and torn down. No matter what the circumstances if there is a fire in the home there should be working smoke detectors. This kind of stuff must stop. My son, Joshua, died in this house because some people don't care about anything except their wallets. I never thought I could have children, but was blessed with one. My only son is gone now and my life will never be the same. It is a terrible loss. If this continues, more families will be hurt or killed in these homes.

     (4) SEEMS TO BE LEARNED - I have lived in many different places throughout my lifetime; I have lived in big cities, big suburbs, small suburbs, and even small rural towns. Both my husband and I are college educated and have held professional positions in various states. I have lived in this area for awhile now and have witnessed something in a local school system that I have not witnessed anywhere else. Before moving here, when first looking for a home people began telling us that the area was "snobby, cliquey," but I brushed off such comments as personal bitterness. Many of us have probably heard that distinction, but I had no idea. I had babies at that time. My oldest child was in the first grade when they started school, and by second grade one of the classmates beat him relentlessly on a daily basis and ended up trying to shove his head down a toilet. The principal gave him a 'warning' and told us "what can I do?" We watched physical cruelty of these children turn into what I have found to be the crux of the problem here. It reminded me of the warnings of "snobby, cliquey" people. My child who turned out to be autistic, became a daily target. There seems to be a 'sheep' mentality here that is so pervasive that it even affects the teachers, staff, and parents as well; surprisingly regardless of their education. The behavior seems to be learned and duplicated from person to person and generation to generation like cattle. (X)__ This is how the pigs control the sheep. (OBama, purifying his race)

Sept.9: NO ARRESTS WERE MADE__ I would like the Iron Mountain Police Department to state how many complaints they received in the past two months regarding an eastside address where the street thugs beat and attempted to kill the two long-time neighborhood homeowners this past week. Yes, attempted murder, the two residents were beaten on the head and face numerous times with skateboards, even as they lay unconscious in the street. Both victims will require extensive medical treatment. Also, I would like to hear the Iron Mountain Police Department comment on the fact that less than 24 hours after these beatings took place, the street thugs were once again terrorizing the same neighborhood, and when the police finally did break up the "party" no arrests were made. I hope the Iron Mountain Police Department handles the investigation of this case in a professional manner, despite their inept performance so far.

Sept.,05/2009 SHAME ON YOU __ I am a concerned citizen of Dickinson County. I have elderly parents and I also have friends who have elderly parents who have home health care. Recently, I was informed by a friend to keep tabs on the home health care employees at my parent's house, (There are many agencies in the area.) She informed me that a home health care worker convinced her elderly parent to sign over everything to him/her. Since she told me about this, I have spoken to many in the area upset over these workers conning the elderly into signing everything over to them leaving nothing for the family members. How is this possible? Is this legal for them to do? There should be a law against it. I am sure there are very good health care workers out there. I believe (and I hope) my parents have good caretakers, but I will keep an eye on things. I just want to make the public aware of what is going on. Another person I spoke with also had this happen to her. Her parent passed away and left everything to the health care worker. She could not do a thing about it. Her attorney said that if she knew before her parent's death, she may have been able to do something about it. How can these people take such advantage of the elderly? You know who you are and you are sick individuals. Shame on you.

Comment:  The two above articles remind me of when the Fascist crime families forced people to pay for protection insurance. Now that they can't do that anymore they extort money this way. (total control) The Sheriff, at least one Judge and the most successful law firm in the county all share the same last name, as well as other law firms that have the same name as some of the other judges. Fascism at its best (Go) Dickinson County Healthcare System. (X)

A REAL MONEY MAKER: Oct. 12/07 A local sheriffs department took several minors to 35 businesses to purchase alcohol. 14 businesses (40%) sold alcohol to the kids. The businesses that admitted to selling to minors were fined $50.00. Almost every day there are several arrests listed for minors in possession. The courts make money, the police did there job, the businesses made a buck and the game continues. Dickinson County turned down a state transportation grant of $250,000.00 for keeping people from driving while intoxicated. Apparently the county makes a lot more than 250 thousand a year in fines off DWI arrests.

Read the next page to see what happens in Michigan to anyone who dares to expect any kind of decency, honesty or fairness from Michigan's judges, (pg.9) law enforcement and dirty politicians. The only thing they hate worse than a tourist in Dickinson County, and pretty much all of Michigan, is anyone with morals, pride, self-respect, or who tries doing the right thing according to any decent society. Another good reason to avoid Michigan is businesses which operate here don't need or have insurance on the public and can completely ignore all safety and health laws and regulations. (U of M) If anyone should fall, or worse, in any of Michigan's stores like Meijers Inc., they are put on welfare, evaluated, and if injured badly enough, they are put on Medicaid, (a state administered program), and there are a lot of them because the businesses don't have insurance companies forcing them to abide by any safety or health standards.  (continued pg.3)
